I have a new Toyota Corolla (07). I like the way the engine sounds when I floor it. But will this damage the engine? ( I never go over the red zone. I go p to 6000 rpm).

It is probably the fastest and worst way to break in your motor as well as shorten the life of it. If you like to shift at high rpms for quicker acceleration then you need to find out where your power band is and not go past it cause once you go past your powerband then you're just wasting fuel and not accelerating any faster. when you give it gas you'll feel when the car kinda hits this plateau of acceleration where it kinda just stops moving fast and just moves you at speed. that is your peak powerband. it is easily found if you have a DYNO to put your car up on.

Most car company will recommend that u should take it easy during the 'break in' period. However i've seen a brand new car thats been trash from the first day out of the shop and 3yrs later with 100 000km (60 000miles) on the engine working fine. Then again i wouldn't recommend that you do this to your corolla as i held no responsibility for any damage

'Breaking in' nowdays is not as important as it used to be. The engines are 'burned in' at the factory so they've already got the equivelent of a few thousand miles on them even in a new car. Having said that, I would take it reasonably easy.

Nice cars those Corollas by the way - and I know what you mean about the VVTi engine, it's beautifully smooth!

This model is made for Day to Day driving extreme driving...

Just recommend you do the 1st oil change at 1500 miles...

Also its worse to set the cruise control at one speed for more than 100 miles under 1000 miles than to put it through the paces of how your going to torture it the rest of its life....

I recommend that you Don't keep it up near 6000 RPM unless your ready to hurt it.... Try keeping it down to 5200 RPMs... Cruising at normal speeds and regular driving is highly recommended for the 1st 3000 miles... Even if its and S model...

Happy Trails

You are pushing the limit. During brake in, you are suggested to floor it but only in top gear and not for more than 30 seconds. If you want to kill your engine, than listen to the noise it makes just before the big bang.

it truly is nonsense. smash your motor vehicle in from new with the aid of heading down the Auobahn, throughway, twin carriageway on the speed reduce, or ninety MPH for fifty miles and turn round and are available decrease back. that receives the stress out of the block then use each of the revs yet dont allow the engine labour for the subsequent 500. My pal had a storage and at the same time as new automobiles got here with the aid of street 50 miles from the production unit, the paint bwould be blistered off the exhaust and the engine might want to be purple warm, yet they woulkd be superb, at the same time as they got here on a transporter with 5 miles on the Clock they could burn oil because the piston earrings under no circumstances were given to mattress in. quick smash in quick motor vehicle.

Hmm, its still in the break in phase, and is not advicable. Your car, and will be your problem when the engine starts to have problems down the road.
