The only way I get Chrysler engines to stop ticking is on it's next oil change, I drain about 2L of oil out and replace it with automatic transmission fluid (Dextron111) and let the car run for about an hour. Transmission fluid has a lot of cleaners in it and because it's an oil, it won't harm the engine. After that I give it a normal oil change with the correct grade for the weather.

Hmmm, not really, as the new oil might not be able to break up that sticky stuff in the lifter. You could do a thing called motor flush next time, and then do the oil change again. I say later, when your due for your next oil change. How loud is this ticking anyways? Also, what size motor do you have anyways? This would be helpful to give you the proper answers. And Mileage on van. Thanks. :)

Yeah, it could take a little while for the lifter to pump itself up again after an oil change. If it's leaking though it will probably eventually get worse. Not sure how old your van is though...

they make a additive that you can add to your oil to free up sticky lifters, just go to autozone, pepboys and ask for it. It used to be called wynns friction proofing but I don't know if they are still in business but there are other companies out there that make the additive.
