I notice that the names of the performers and even other performers are frequently mentioned in Rap and Hip Hop songs. Why is this?

thats how they make money. in their songs, they give 'shout outs' and then the consumer (you) recognizes the names and goes out and buys the cds.

I guess they just felt the need for a shout out, or maybe taht artist attributed a beat, or a verse to that song. Hope that helps!

because in-case u didn't know their name or the other person encourages them they will mention their name but they mention the name of people they don't like too

they want to let others who they are and who the other people in the songs are and represent.
when they name other people they might be dissing them because of something that happened between them and that person, but it depends on what they are saying.
