An oil rig has whays called a dimaond drill bit on the end of a pipe, then another peice of pipe is contected to that. This carrys on as the machine drills into the ground. All drilling rigs have diffrent depts they can go. usually the farthest is about 4600 feet, which takes 30-40 days.
