Marriage was designed by God's love. It is offered by the reality of nature, it is constituted by the freedom of the man and woman and it is "received and witnessed" by society, as an inherent relationship of justice.
*Now, that being said, if theres even a slight chance that God DIDNT create/invent marriage, then I would definately have to say it was a woman who did lol

I think it was the men who invented it. Think about it: women were considered property way back then and men had multiple wives. The more wives the higher status the man held.
Although these days, I think marriage backfired on the men. =(

Obviously it was a woman as most men are players and have a real hard time settleing down. A woman decided that if they could get in writing, a man to sign away his freedom, if he were to stray she could now take away all of his posessions. It must drive them crazy now that more and more men are catching on and running away before it's too late. hehehe

While I don't have a "real" answer for you I can say that women are naturally give the gift (and desire) to destroy mens life, and in the current day, take away their money. So I would have to say women, probably created as a way of torching men.
