I personally do not think that yahoo is good for a seven year old unless used with a grown up. Its for at least 13+ There is so much that a child can get into online, take a look at all of the adult yahoo chat rooms, and everything else that goes on.

No! Instant messenger service are NOT APPROPRIATE for kids under the age of eighteen.
Unless you can set it up to LOCK OUT all strangers, and make it only for CLOSE, TRUSTED FAMILY members, don't do it. And you'd have to be sure non family member do not have access to family members' computers.
No IM services for your seven year old. Let your child be a child.

no i dont think that yahoo messanger is for a 7 year old because there are a lot of perverts out there and you never know what will happen. be careful and your loved ones to.

Hmm it depends on whether you can trust your child to take their own responsbile for their own actions. you can install parental control on the computer, that will monitor every single words they say on the computer.. you can use a program called keylogger, very effective and safe to use and it is free! then if you have comcast or mcafree they have parental control software where you can install it to keep them off the computer at certain time. I know you are wondering how can i can keep him off the computer at certain hours, but at same time I need to be on the computer? Easy. create an account for him on the computer and put restrict privledges on his account with software i just suggested and the rest of other accounts need to have password so he can't log on into ur computer. :) if u want to know how to do all of those please contact me.

No. Get him/her a book. Teach him/her to write a letter (to Grandma? Santa? A pen pal?). Play a board or card game together. Do crafts.
