There is not as much prejudice as you think. Slight jealousy, may be. This is a very young country without any luggage of traditions, unlike our countries in Europe. That is why they are a little jealous of us.

Americans may actually harbor fewer prejudices against foreigners than any other people on Earth. Most people in this country are very polite, if not down right thrilled to meet someone from abroad. Have you seen Borat. Americans will put up with a great deal of nonsense from a foreigner and still love them!

Everyone is distrustful of that which is different and unfamiliar. But that doesn't separate Americans from the world populations. As a matter of fact I'll propose that Americans are more accepting of other cultures than almost any other population in the world. We don't have people boarding rickety boats attempting to escape FROM the U.S. We don't really care where you are from if you pull your weight. Yeah, we have those who are short sighted and unenlightened but, here again, we are no different than the world at large. When a Japanese family gets into our swimming pool the Americans don't immediately leave the pool in mass for fear of uncleanliness. As to the Euros being singled out, please 80% of our ancestors are euros. And I am very proud to be from that stock.

I really don't see it but then I am American born. The prejudices I do see are strictly related to immigrants refusal to speak English and put downs of American culture. My grandparents came from Germany and Mexico....They all learned good English and were proud to learn it and be an American.

Generally, can you make such a blanket statement? Does EVERYONE have prejudices on "foreigners" ? How can any one American answer such a question?

Some of it's due to pure ignorance and the fact that our cultures are different. That could be part of the reason why.
