Ok, so they didnt give them directly to Saddam. We are still going to make this "so called" new government of Iraq armed. Just read what Bush had to say to the president of Iraq in Jordan.

We didn't give them to Saddam. Somebody sold them to Saddam, so he could use them against whomever he wished. Then they were blown up so he could buy more. And of course we had to buy more all the time as well. Somebody is making a "killing" in all this alright. And they don't want to change this formula that has worked for so long down through the ages. I think they call it "business as usual." It is time we all woke up to this game you are calling attention to, and put an end to it.
You bet they will be armed, even if they ask us to leave! An arms dealer never met a client he didn't like doing business with. And they may well be used against us yet again in the not to far distant future. It is a most disgusting practice.

What the heck's wrong with arms sales? Do you people not think self-defense is a valid function of people or governments? We hope to leave Iraq a better place than it was, but even if that doesn't happen there's something to be said for at least having tried. And the U.S. did indeed offer to arm the Iraqi army with M-16's and M-4's. They chose to stick with AK-47's. What they'd like to have from us is armored vehicles, but we don't have any to spare just now. I wouldn't want to go looking for IED's in an unarmored pickup truck, either. The weapons causing casualties to our troops are coming across border from the east and the west. And the overwhelming majority of the people I've talked to who've been over there would like to correct some of the mistakes but think the basic idea is sound. The guys in green seem to be the biggest support group Bush still has. That keeps me from griping too much.

Of course the US will give the Iraqis weapons. Next to Coca Cola weapons are US best sellers world wide. I believe the defense industry is the 2nd largest business in the US. Plus Iraq will have more oil money than they know what to do with once things settle down a little. The US sells billions of weapons to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, (Iran in the 70s), Kuwait, and many more Muslim countries so as long as Iraq remains relatively friendly to the US and not Iran they'll be getting a lot of US weapons.

Most of Saddam's weapons were Russian. Most of the rest were French.
Try to use a few facts. 1 or 2 would be anice change of pace.
