Obviously, I'm going with Boston because they had such a unique sound in the 70's that got everyone back into rock:

Led Zeppelin, Because they had the Best front man ever Robert Plant, one of the best drummers in the world John Bonham and he was in his 20's, a Bass player named John Paul Jones that was one of the most requested session players at the time....oh yeah they had a guy who played the guitar named Jimmy Page. Plus when Bonzo died they split because they knew the band would never be as good as what they were with him.

You're right Boston is great! I love the hit "More than a Feeling." I think Pink Floyd is also great, because they have that classic 70s rock sound with a sort of moody feel to them that makes me feel relaxed when I listen to them.

Alright ima go with someone other than everyone's favorite Led Zepp..how bout Aerosmith?

Steven Tyler, one of the most impressive vocalists ever and Joe Perry whose famous riffs made each song in their extensive likable. Like Zeppelin, Aerosmith pretty much never had a bad song.

My favorite is Pink Floyd because of the way their music makes me feel - especially David Gilmore's guitar sound. However, I think Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock n roll band in the world because of their talent, and the instrument of Robert Plant's voice.

I'm not sure how you define "classic rock" anymore.

But I am going to chose Tom Petty & the HeartBreakers.

They have been around for decades and have a unique sound.
songs are good for dancing, lyrics are good.
From "American Girl" to "The Last DJ" they have entertained and their songs are in the fabric of movies and literature, woven in as a sign of "the times".

They have always put on great live shows and to my knowledge do not behave like "prima donnas".

Genesis is without a doubt the best most talented progressive rock band to ever play. Intelligent, magical, majestic, powerful, sweeping, humorous and demanding musically and lyrically. Think of the talent in that band--Peter Gabriel left in 75 and went on to be one of the most influential artists of the last 30 years. Phil Collins of course, one of the most amazing drummers of all time and of course he had a nice little solo career in the 80s and 90s himself. Mike Rutherford of course went on to form Mike and the Mechanics (Can You Hear Me) and is a great guitarist and bassist. Steve Hackett, simply one of the greatest guitarists to walk this earth--ghostly and precise in his playing. Tony Banks is right there with Wakeman and Emerson as a keyboard player, and a great writer and composer of music who wrote most of Genesis's true great epics and is simply underrated by the general public.

This band was an awesome and powerful live band that wasn't worried about HITS but about musical sincerity and musical DRAMA. Their music was truly epic and dramatic. Listen to Foxtrot (Suppers Ready--all 26 minutes), Selling England, The Lamb double album, Trick of the Tail, Wind and Wuthering, and even the last album they did with Ray Wilson replacing Phil, which had a lot of great moments and captured the old drama. Their influence is immeasurable, and they were classy, intelligent decent guys who weren't interested in the trappings of rock star success. They kept low profiles and were not victims of drug induulgences. Why does this band get so little recognition?? They are right there with Pink Floyd and Yes at the top of the heap and its about time they were recognized for almost 35 years of great music.

Pink Floyd:

Their music has always been enjoyable to me. Album rock has always been more enjoyable to me, telling a story. But more importantly, I just like their sound
