Nonsense. You can't have your cake and eat it too. But before you can consume cake someone has to make it. So how can consumption lead growth?

economically speaking there is a positive relation between consumption and growth. Because consumption from the consummers part means profit or retainned earnings from the investors side. which means further investments; hence higher output and higher incomes; thus economic exapansion or growth
