You didn't mention if the car studder or was the engine studdering? The car shaking at certain speeds is usually the tires out of balance. If it is the engine, look for an air leak between the air filter and the engine, the two are connected with an accordion style tube. With the engine on, physically move the accordion tube with your hands. You might see the engine die... there is your problem, an air leak, replace this tube.
Front diving is bad struts... The gas leaks out after seven years. This could be faster on some struts. Push down on the front right corner of your car and release suddenly. Do the same to the left side. If it bounces... you need a new strut. If it comes up slowly and stop... look else where for the problem.

You could have 3 things going on...
Does it shutters when you release the gas, does it get worse when stepping on the brake pedal???? Or clear up?
You need to look at all of the front end including Tires...
If worse when stopping, Brake rotors....
If shutter all the time tire or tie rod...
If shutters then stops or lightens up when braking check the struts....
Better yet have a tech or mechanic drive it with you then get it up on a lift and check the underside out....
Also diving nose when braking is weak struts most likely the rear ones....

I don't know about the forward motion when you press the brakes but the shuddering is likely due to out of balance tires. If that is not it you should see a front end alignment shop soon. You may have a serious ball joint problem that can be dangerous.

It sounds like it could deffinately be your struts. You wanna know an easy way to find out? Its kinda cheating but take your car to a Pep Boys or just any kind of auto shop and ask them for a FREE estimate, tell them whats happening and when they call you to tell you whats wrong with the car you just tell them that you cant afford to pay for that repair @ this time, get your car back at no cost (because it was a FREE estimate) and go to another store to purchase the parts they said you need and put them in yourself. If you were to go to a dealer they usually overcharge for parts and labor but they know what they are doing, plus the dealers dont usually do free estimates. Its usually like a $80. charge or something. If you did choose for them to do the work that $80 would go towards that bill though.

It sound like the transmission is not down shifting. The diving part could be bad front struts or bad rear brakes.

you want the front brake pads and rotors, the front rotors are warped, very worry-free on maximum eauropean vehicles, sturdy ol ATE brake elements, they end extremly properly yet positioned on out very instantly.

nose diving is that your struts or springs are weak.
