Why would anyone want to send a message with their clothing and body language and conversation that they were something other than they really are might be a better question that answers yours! Why do policemen, judges, heads of state, nurses, doctors, military personell wear uniforms or certain clothing? It's called being civilized in society and letting people know who and what you are. Just make sure that you are as nice inside as you are out, that your clothes send the right message of your character and you won't have to worry what people think!

It is unfortunate, especially when the "outside" ,such as a deformity is not something one has any control over. There are actually scientific studies that show humans unconcious reactions to appearance and alot of it seems to be linked to survial of the fittest in nature. Outside appearances that are a choice such as green hair, or not bathing, or gang type clothes are making a statement by the person and are asking for the possible pre-judgement they receive.

Society thinks that the first impressions always make the lasting ones, so if you on a date with a girl, and you fall over or something, she's going to remember you falling over. Not you as the person and she's not going to want to remember the rest of the date. Even if the rest of the night went off without a hitch.

I think it is because we are programmed to do judge people like that so to speak in our society. look at television the commercials. Where you see so called good looking people but they got that way by using "special" lotion and oils. The media has a lot to with it I think. But then again there are those who are just plain mean and nasty, and other people who just cannot think for themselves who follow them.

It is better not to judge.
We are wrong at looking on the appearances; we are even more veiled about the inner hearts, including our personal heart. Let's pray that all people will repent instead of judging.

Most people don't. The ones who do were either taught to hate others by the people who raised them, they do it because of peer pressure so they seem cool with the crowd they hang out with , or they are just mean people who have no respect for themselves or others.

Because the outside is what we see first and I think we're all in too much of a hurry to take the time to delve deeper.

I know! LIke me, I'm gay and I know, I look gay and sound gay, people are SO closedminded, it's sickening! Helooooo, there are many of us around, get OVER it! Oh well, people are like that because they are uncomfortable with this particular situation, they just arent used to it, that's what I say to myself and I feel much better. It'll be okay, people will be people!

i think that in the beginning that may be so, but after you get to know the person it is no longer the outside appearance but the kind of person you are.
