If she's choking then she's obviously not ready for those yet. I'd wait a few more weeks and try it again. Maybe you could put a little water on the crackers or teething cookies to soften it up a bit. Maybe then she wouldn't choke on it. It might not work, but just an idea :-)

The first type of food babies are generally started with is cereal and rice. Rice is the first cereal because it's easier to digest. Barley would be the next cereal introduced, then Oatmeal. The cereals are mixed with either baby formula or baby juice. If your baby is choking off of the cereal then it must be too thick and lumpy. The cereal needs to be thin, not too thick and not dry.

I like the cereals in the jar too, but choose a little Peaches and Chicken. You can feed the Peaches separately or mix with baby cereal. There's a large variety of foods to choose from. The key is to introduce foods slowly, try each new food for three days before introducing a new food. So you can also watch for signs of allergies as well. Start with #1 foods in the jar. Stay away from thicker products such as lasagna until your baby is older.

I would really watch her with teething cookies, because you don't want the cookie to sog up and break. You even have to be careful with crackers. To be on the safe side it would be wise to wait until you really feel comfortable with teething cookies and crackers, and your baby is a little older. Maybe at 12 months you could reintroduce teething crackers and cookies.

Gerber has fruit pieces for babies. I like them a lot for my baby, very flavorful. But the best part is it melts in your babies mouth immediately. So you won't have to worry about choking. Make sure you check the labels for Gerber products that melt in your baby's mouth. Your baby will be able to enjoy flavor, and you will be able to relax.

Back off of anything that makes her choke for sure! Solids are not necessary in the first year, especially if you are breast feeding. Little taste of this and that of what ever your family normally eats will be fine for a while. I broke up cheerios and crackers into little bits at first as the whole piece would cause choking.

always start with bananas first. take mashed pieces and hand feed her. she will not like the taste or anything initally since she is tasting everything for the first time. but few times and she'll be alright. increase the intake of bananas everyday. after 1 1/2 weeks introduce another fruit, an orange piece or cooked apples or anything. while giving citrus fruits watch out for cold-cough, and immediately stop. try after a month again. teething cookies and other things you mentioned can all be kept for a later stage once the baby is able to eat easily digest food. try each and every vegetable you know or is available. give lentils soup. all these are much more healthier and easier on the tummy. dont wait until she's one. we indians believe that whatever you give within the first yr is what they will tend to like throughout their life. my baby is 9 mos and eats every single veggie and fruit available in the market. but he gets a cold with citrus fruits. he started solids at 4 mos. and he always prefered lumpier chunks to watery soups. but that ofcourse that varies from child to child. some vegies may not taste nice by themselves but if you rly insist on giving her a liking for it, try adding a pinch of salt or sugar to it. no harm. i do it all the time. and since we eat spices too, i add a pinch of spice to the veggie every now and then. no harm in trying.they are humans too. we can always withdraw if something doesnt seem right. my baby still chokes on teether biscuits and muesli.

Alright I have a 6 month old for a month he has been eating squash, acorn squash, peas (not the sweet peas), apples, and bannanas. My wife and I have been making our own baby food which is easy and it saves so much money. Of course we have a bood. At six month the door opens up to more food. My boy still chokes on those puff things but it pops back out and melts in his mouth.

I started all my babies with cream of wheat, diluted in a baby bottle first. I make the hole in the nipple larger so that the baby could suck on it. The gradually use a little baby spoon and make the cream or wheat a little thicker. Introduce your baby to Gerber baby food, something new every week and find out what the baby likes best.

I started mine with those teething biscuits, melba toast, and Gerber Graduates finger foods. Also, small pieces of grilled cheese are great. Corn and peas are good too. Also, a lightly mashed avacado is good.

Maybe you should try making the cereal a little thinner. If it's OK with your Dr they say start with veggies.
