Drive past it regularly and its bugging me - anyone know what its going to be? Looks to me like it could be a cinema, but that doesn't make sense as there is already one at the Trafford Centre.

I don't think it is the Barton Square project as 1) it is on the wrong side of the trafford centre and 2) it is a tall wide building like structure (just framework right now) rather than a low rise complex of shops.

Barton Square development

WORK has started at Barton Square, the £60m Peel development at The Trafford Centre.

Or, perhaps-

Work has started on the North West’s first indoor real snow Alpine village, Chill Factore. Located next to The Trafford Centre just off the M60 in Greater Manchester, it will offer a year-round snow-based leisure centre, with an mix of sport, shops, bars and restaurants. Its promoters describe the design is "world class", and claim that ski and snowboard coaching will be to Olympic standard with an atmosphere – for snowbirds, shoppers, spectators and après-ski fans alike – that will rival anything in the North West...

Once completed, Barton Square will provide a shopping environment featuring 200,000 sq ft of high quality home-ware merchandise that is not currently available within the Trafford Centre.
