yes there has been actors that have actually made themselves older to get on to movie sets to be extras, when they were starting out.
women make themselves three or five years younger.
Guys maybe a few years older.

Some do .. and IMDB is not always 100% correct. Some of my friends on there are older than listed.

Celebrities are hardly a barometer of values. I wouldn't set my life by them nor give much credence or importance to whatever it is they have to say. Most of it is for the sake of business.

Update:
I looked on Imdb.com and i was looking at the ages for Jason Earles, because I was reading a magazine and they said he doesn't like to give his age out, i thought oh that ridiculous. I looked on Imdb.com and it said 1977, i was shocked, that makes him 29 years old. Isn't that amazing? Hes that old. well, not that old. Jason Earles is from Hannah Montana/
