I bought a used K&N air filter from a junk yard and it is rewashable. What is the best method of cleaning to give me the best results on my car

The one thing you DO NOT want to do is use any type of compressed air, it will tear the material that makes up the air filter. Like was said, warm soapy water with a light brush, rinse very well, let air dry and apply K&N oil (actually, any mineral oil will work). Do not use a petroleum oil as it's too flamable.

if it is a truly washable filter I(K&N, or the like) they make a cleaning kit (usually found at your local auto parts store). with the kit, you spray the cleaner all over the filter, let it sit a second, then thoroughly wash the filter with water, then let it stand till it air dries. then reinstall it and you are good to go. but if it is NOT a washable one, you need to replaced it.

i own a repair shop,and i clean mine with good soapy water and let them dry out good,and be sure and use some mineral oil ,,or oil from one of there kits,,but really,any oil will work good with it,,just don't over oil it and you,ll be fine,,there good filters and will last a long time if taken care of,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s

Soapy water, soft brush, rinse litely and let dry. After dry apply K&N oil. I have them on my Jeep and Truck...just take caution and you'll be alright.

if its washable,then take some dish liquid and wash it out and then rince it.just hang it up and let it air dry.
