Use a LATEX condom correctly and consistently (every time! for oral AND anal sex)

Do NOT use oil-based lubricant with a condom. Oil weakens the condom. Use water-based lubricant. (And lubrication is important to prevent your skin from tearing and producing open cuts).

Here are some tips for proper condom use:
-tear it open carefully -- don't use your teeth!
-make sure it's not expired!
-when putting it on, leave room at the end for ejaculation
-use a different condom for each sex act (in other words, one for anal sex, one for oral sex, etc. -- don't reuse a condom!)
-don't keep condoms in hot places (like a glove compartment)

hope this helps :)

Never have unprotected sex. There is a significant delay between time of exposure to the AIDS virus and the time the blood test becomes positive. This means you must assume that every time you have sexual intercourse your partner could be infected even if they say they just tested negative. You must not only use a condom every time, you must learn to use it properly. It is important to know the correct way to put one on and take it off. You must choose a size appropriate for you. Too big, the contents may spill out during intercourse. Too small, the condom may break. Use ONLY water soluble lubricants. Do not even think of using something like petroleum jelly (Vaseline) because it will dissolve the condom. Get tested for HIV yourself frequently. There are websites with lots of other good information for you. Use a search engine to find them, then read what's on them. Keep up to date on new developments. Don't get so drunk or drugged out before sex that you don't know what you're doing and end up not practicing safe sex. Although it won't prevent your catching AIDS it is still important to maintain good general health. That means good diet, exercise, sufficient rest, maybe a daily multivitamin. Speak with your physician about other things you might do to protect yourself. Don't ever think you are one of the immortals because you are not. So don't act like one. Remember you are just as vulnerable as everyone else.

I'm not gay. But, I assume it would be the same thing that we all have to do to be careful. Don't sleep with strangers. Get involved in a committed relationship with one partner. Once, you and your partner decide it is right. Both of you get tested for HIV/AIDS before having sexual relations. If the test comes out negative, use a condom. ALWAYS use a condom both in oral and other forms of sexual contact. Remember, you may be faithful, your partner may not always be. Protect yourself.

Your sexual orientation doesn't matter.
Know your partner. Make it a rule that you won't have sex until your comfortable enough to say no.
Use protection ALWAYS. I know it sucks. But experiment with different condom brands until you find the one that suits you best.
If your feeling tempted..Masturbate! There's no shame in it. Or masturbate with your partner. Just make sure fluids don't enter anywhere.
Never allow yourself to be pressured into doing something impulsive. Sex is meant to be an expression of love. Remember that. An assertive man that stands up for what he feels strongly about..is an attractive man.

If you are into having sex with multiple partners, use condoms and make sure those guys have proof stating they are HIV negative because nowdays they issue cards after taking tests of all types of sexual transmitted diseases. It is always safe to be in a monogomus relationship, so if you are not sure always carry condoms....

Use a condom, even if your partner says he's clean. You just never know. Also if you want to be sure for yourself, maybe you could be tested for HIV once a year if you want to be. Be safe, use condoms.

The same way that straight people do... avoid unprotected sex (especially anal) and know your partner. You just can't be safe if you have one night stands anymore... sad, I know. Ask your partner when he/she was last tested and get tested regularly yourself.

Excellent question that doesn't get asked enough.
