20/20 had a great special on last night, that dealt with many things, one of which was the amount of charity Americans gave to the world. Apparently, the anti-us-leftist propaganda is totally false. Americans outgive any other group by a staggering margin. For example, we outgive Italians 12 to 1. No one comes close.

Yet, we are hated. After massive indonesia tsunami charity, the Islamic country wastes no time in being the first to welcome Amejdijad of Iran, not to mention a host of scandals where the Indonesians told us to get out!

Dont give me this "we do it cause its right" garbage. We can do many other things with the money that are much more "right" and dont amount to "throwing goof money after bad".

Theres nothing wrong with at least giving or investing in areas that dont contradict our immediate self interests. Why give a frickin frickin red cent to people who hate us?

Like the stupidty of Yugoslavia, what return did we get? 911 shortly after. Nice.

I must admit this has puzzled me greatly over the years. Seems we give and give when countries suffer natural or man-made disasters only to have them turn around and spit in our face. Doesn't seem right. That's why I choose to only donate to the local rescue mission. It helps men and women who have made wrong choices in their lives get back on their feet. I don't mean to be insensitive to the terrible tragedies that befall the rest of the world, but maybe we should concentrate on helping in our own backyard more often.

Read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man and you will understand why countries do not give. They cannot afford to give. Then read Overthrow and it will explain what I write from another view point. I was told to come to this site to respond to people but I have yet to find a question that is intelligent. Does anyone read?

Then watch this and ask another question

US, give ?! Giving and US do not go together. US does not give one cent unless it is guaranteed huge returns.

When Lebanon was shreded to pieces, most of US aid went to Israel, not Lebanon. In the guise of rebuilding Iraq, many think Iraqi oil is paying Halliburton and such companies.

US did give huge aids to Pakistan, but only on condition that it help US to defeat Taliban. When US put together a coalition of countries to invade Iraq, most of them agreed after US promised huge aids.

When the 2005 Tsunami struck and killed hundreds of thousands of people, US, being the only super power in the world, announced a paltry 30 mill aid. I would not be surprised if this aid was in the guise of rebuilding by US companies.

Frankly, I think people do not agree that US gives because of numerous examples like above, which dwarf any honest US aid.

Your people are trying to prove they are not as bad as their government.

Your examples are comparing apples to oranges........not wise.

Go travel and meet the citizens of various countries you will soon find that they if you speak to them have very little animosity to the U S but their governments so. And in many cases the animosity is valid.

Watch if you can BBC news on the TV for a while and you'll see and hear things from the prospective of the people around the world on world affairs. It surprises most of my American friends.

We see the world only from our point of view, coloured by our government and our media. The only way to really know what's happening is to go see it for yourself or read what is written by writers from other places......but listen to and read more than one point of view. I find reading newspapers from many countries on the internet a good way to educate myself so I can form my own opinions and not be tricked into an opinion by the media and my (your) government's propaganda.
