Last year Toyota had the most recalls, but the media "failed" to notice since millions would stand against them because of thier reputation. These days reputation is nothing, technology advances so fast it cant keep up. For ex: three years ago GM was one of the worst companies, now they have the most top-rated vehicles, and the quality/reliability surpasses Toyota. Honda is still on top of the reliability ratings. Ford also had more recalls than GM and DaimlerChrysler combined, for reasons like exploding engines and wheels falling off. Here is a quote from the Washington Posts review of the Toyota CAmry "one of which is the Chevrolet Malibu, which in my real-world driving experience has been every bit as good and reliable as the much-ballyhooed Camry but has been maligned primarily because it is a Chevrolet". Oddly enough that was an '04 Malibu VS the totally redisigned '07 Camry. Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. People then complain that when they take it to the dealer to be fixed they just say "The cars are made with so much plastic its practically impossible to fix" GM is also the worlds fastest growing manufacturer, and that dosent happen by accident.

Jay, you need to focus on TODAYS models. Chevys used to be pieces of s***, but they sacraficed the advertising budget and put the money into developing. If you test a new GM you will know just how much this has payed off. Malibus ARE rental cars, it is the Impala that faces the Camry and Accord, and Impala sales are growing faster than any other comparable model. GM dominates the SUV segment, getting the awards from Consumer REports, and JD Power ranks the Tahoe higher than Toyota Sequia,in overall quality, and ties in every other class. GMs interiors are the most improved part of thier vehicles. Just step in a new Suburban or Tahoe, they are nicer than any Toyota. WHO CARES how companies scored on an '03-'04 test, people wnat to know about NOW, in which the Saturn Aura is the best. If you saw one, and drove it you would know why. All of Gm's new models beat thier competitions. I have done my home work, now Jay needs to update his.

Stewpid, OLD Chevys rattled, the new ones dont. You also dont think Toyotas are rattle free?

"Common problems with Toyotas are plastic rattling until it falls off. Select lowest-highest, any car that fills two out of five pages with negative reviews is not that good. Now compare it to the reviews of the comparable Saturn Aura and see what is really a better car. http://research.cars.com/go/crp/research.jsp?year=2007&makeid=43&modelid=8377§ion=consumerreviews#reviews

Those cars are good cars so long as they are kept up. The question is hidden somewhat but the answer is this - No one wants to wade though the ups and downs of the entire industry to decide whether to give an honest or clever answer. Every year you can say, they don't make 'em the way they used to.

It's funny how you imply that Toyota is unreliable. Pick up a Consumer Reports magazine or look at the latest JD Power 5studies and tell me which automaker is more reliable: Toyota/Lexus/Scion or all of GM's companies combined? I'll make it easier on you, take GM's top 3 most reliable brands and Toyota still comes out on top overall.

Here is Consumer Reports lists of best and worst reliable vehicles:

http://autos.msn.com/advice/CRArt.aspx?contentid=4023544

Not a single Toyota or Honda on the worst reliable list while I count 9 GM products as having worst reliabuility in their class.

Guess who dominates the most reliable vehicles list? TOYOTA/LEXUS/SCION with a whopping 19 models altogether.

JD Power:

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/SaveonaCar/MostDependableCar.aspx

Note: Toyota averages 179 while Chevrolet averages 241 problems per 100 vehicles.

Toyota did have many recalls last year, yet it still didn't affect it's overall scoring in reliabuility tests.

Final Note: If you read any automotive magazine or perhaps glance on Edmunds.com occassionally, you'd notice that GM has a notorious track record for building poor quality interiors. Read any review of a GM car pre 2005. Why do you think GM only redesigned the Cadillac SRX's interior for 07 and left the exterior alone? Because compared to a Lexus RX 350 the SRX had the interior quality of a Chevy Cavalier. BTW Your bias against Toyota is driven by the fact that they will take over the title of World's Largest Automaker sometime next year. Now that doesn't happen by accident.

The Camry may have come in third, however the Malibu was ranked in a dissapointing seventh place. Here is what Edmunds had to say about the Malibu's interior:

"Editors found the Chevrolet Malibu's interior design functional, but certainly not upscale like the interiors of the Accord, Camry and Passat or even trendy like the Mazda 6's or Galant's. Instead, there were comments about the Chevrolet's "rental car look and feel.'"

There you have it...

Your statements are made up of your own opinions and one of your buddies'. You can find million such people who will say things about different brands that do not make any sense. Toyota, and Honda's ratings are high because Consumer Reports say so from the millions of readers' reviews- not some person just blowing steam.
GM, Ford and Chrysler are all growing in performance year after year because of the Japanese competition. Otherwise they would still making those lousy cars they made in 70's, when you had to go under the car every weekend. I hope they keep improving the performance. They are getting close to Toyota. Europeans are behind.

That's alot of info but it's good to know. I like Chevy cars but GM management still needs overhauling. Subaru is still my favourite car. Now 10% owned by Toyota so Toyota should benefit from their engineering.

I particularly have by no potential performed that, heck i don't have adequate factors to try this, yet i replaced into wandering why each time a Christian ask a query you spot undesirable rankings or that none believers are available in and make such dumb feedback. in case you do no longer believe then this is fantastic with me, you do no longer wont me shoving Jesus down your throat and that i do no longer wont every physique throwing clever feedback at me because of the fact of what they suspect. Works the two techniques around right here in case you question me. i will by no potential provide a nasty score to a non believer for asking a query, yet you greater appropriate believe i will in the event that they're making dumb feedback while a query is directed to Christians and that they choose to be infantile. to illustrate somebody ask for prayer....hi DUMMIES that's for believers, there is no reason to pass in and make comments like "Your dropping some time, Gods no longer genuine" Now how infantile is that.

now, now!! that's a good research paper. what Malibu have you seen that got 400K miles on one engine? what Malibu have you seen that didn't "rattle" at 30K miles? a recall is usually an outsourcing issue, not the actual manufacturer. calm down and have a good nights sleep. i understand where you're coming from.

toyota is going nascar next year and since they don't run pushrods in their engines the recall status had to do for their qualifing status.
