Is it just that she hasn't pooped in awhile or is she trying to but having trouble? If it's just that she hasn't had a BM in awhile, it's pretty normal. If you can see she's having trouble "getting it out" then you need to take her back to the doctor and get another opinion.
For now, try some watered down prune juice but not too much.

If she is breastfed it is normal, my daughter went once a week for 5 months until she began teething. Both the doctor and lactation consultant told me this is completely normal. If you're still very worried get a second opinion from a different doctor and see what they have to say. I do NOT suggest giving anything besides formula or breast milk at this age unless you have a doctors approval. Good luck and congratulations on the newest addition.
I see you say she's formula fed, okay then. Try an ounce or so of water two times a day to help her bowels move.
Also, if the formula has iron that can constipate as well. You may want to try switching gradually if that's the case.

Your 2 week old should not need anything yet to help her go. The only thing I would try is an ounce of water in between feedings. The formula you are using might be too high in iron for her. Avoid all laxatives and fruit juices. Put a bit of Vaseline around her anus and lay her on her back. Take her feet and motion them like she is pedaling a bicycle. Try this at every diaper change. You also try rubbing her tummy while feeding. Definitely find a pediatrician for your baby, one who will answer every and all questions and concerns you might have about your daughter. Good luck!!

i had the SAME problem when my daughter was 2 weeks old she didnt poop for 5 days here are some tips for you
1. when you see her trying to push,, push her knees up to her chest and then back down and back up and hold for 5 seconds(it helps push it out)
2. you can give her 1/2 ounce of prune juice and 1/2 ounce water
3. give her warm baths and let her soak for a while (up to a half hour(it sitmulates her and relaxs her)
4. take her temputer rectualy (in her butt) with the rectal temp
taker
5. rub her tummmy lock wise push down lightly when you do this
6. IF you lay her arm flat by her side right where her middle finger ends rub/massage that area it some how situlates her and will help her poop too
7.IF ALL ELES FALSE AT LIKE TARGET AND WALMART THEY SELL BABY BUTT NAMAES (YOU HAVE INSERT IT IN HER BUT AND THAT WILL MAKE EVERYTHING THAT IS BACKED UP COME POURING OUT BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK WITH YOU DR. BEFORE YOU DO IT
but most doctors say that it is VERy normal for and new born and infant not to poop for up to 5-7 days....
but what really worked for me and this is safe to day is, inbetween feedings give her water, just like you would her formula same temp same amount and that will flush her system too also if her formula has IRON in it try switching to the same fomula without iron that will help too... good luck but all these things are safe to do...

ok, this happened to my daughter when she was a tiny baby.
This is what my mom inlaw did for us(she worked in the hospital nursery.) We bought prune juice mix 1 oz of that with 2 ozs warm water. Also at the pharmacy buy infant suppositories and have some(phamacist or mom) advise you on how to use them.
However only use the suppositories if her tummy is really hard.
My first advice is to use the prune juice.
If she is crying from constipation pain and her tummy is real hard,
use the suppository. Make sure it is for an infant!
Good luck my daughter has been there.

How do you know she is constipated? If you haven't seen any hard poops she isn't constipated. That is why your doctor didn't give you any advice because not pooping for 4 day if formula fed, and 7 days if breastfed is perfectly normal. And if you are exclusively breastfeeding 99.99% your baby IS NOT CONSTIPATED.
Straining is not a sign of constipation, all babies do that.
Any treatment at two weeks is potential far more dangerous than constipation. ANY treatment has the potential to cause diarrhea and newborns become dehydrated VERY VERY quickly. In addition all drugs have potential side effects.
If you are concerned you should get a second opinion and not take any advice like juice or inserting anything into your babies bottom from this site. If your baby is truly constipated she needs to be monitored by a physician during treatment and the cause needs to be quickly determined to prevent it from happening again.

If she isn't bloated and doesn't appear uncomfortable I wouldn't worry. If you can see that she is straining to have a bowel movement or is having small hard bm's, you could try a little bit of karo syrup in her formula (unless she is diabetic), you could also try "Babylax", it is a very tiny mineral oil enema, that you just squirt into her rectum. I am apalled that the doctor's can't give you any advice. If your little one appears to be in pain don't do anything without calling a different doctor. You could also try calling a pharmacist, they might be willing to give you some suggestions. If your baby 's formula contains iron, you may want to see if you can switch her to low iron or no iron formula. Hope she feels better soon.

Is she taking formula? If so it might be the formula, maybe you're making it too strong. You can always try watering it down. Or just giving her a little bit of water.
Also you should find you're self a new doctor. Because they should know these things! Thats BS that they wouldn't know what to do in this situation.

I have the same problem with my 2 week old son. The doctor told me yesterday to give him 1 oz pear juice mixed with 1 oz water once a day. I have also used prune juice before with my other kids. Don't use a whole oz of prune juice though, that would be too much. Also, if you get prune juice, make sure its the kind without pulp.

My baby just had the same problem and I'll tell you what my doc told me and what worked perfectly. 1/2 a teaspoon of DARK Karo syrup (found in the baking section) for every 2 ounces of formula twice a day. I did this 3 times and she finally went. It worked soooo well!
