You were high enough to see the sun over the horizon. On the ground it would be darker.

Sounds like you passed over the 'terminator', not the movie guy but the dividing line between night and day on the earth.

You were so high u could see the sun which made thigs a lot brighter but perhaps on ground it was dark

Rotation of the world. i think.. yeah cuzz the world roatates.. which is why like one half of the world will be night and the rest will be morning... it is where they meet and start to switch
