I don't think there is one. I don't mean that pessimistically (like there is no purpose so there's no point in doing anything), but that's just like asking what is the meaning of math. Why do mathematical principles exist? As far as I can tell, they just do. Same deal with life. Life exists because it does.
Another question I would ask is, why must everything have meaning?
