I didn't start til I was almost 14. It's nothing to be scared of. Yea it can be kinda gross and it takes getting used to but it's not really that bad. The only bad thing really is cramps but I didn't every get cramps until I was about 17. Even then advil will take care of that. Just remember that you aren't actually bleeding. When you become old enough to get pregnant your body will start releasing eggs from your overies and you will build up a lining in your uterus in case you get pregnant. It builds up to protect the fertilized egg. If you don't get pregnant then the lining sheds which results in your period. So don't think are are bleeding inside yourself. It can be kinda scary and different but talk to your mom or friends that have theirs and ask any questions you may have. Also don't let anyone pressure you into using tampons. If you aren't comfortable then just wait. They are less messy but it can take time to learn how to use them and be comfortale with it.

I was 11 and in the 6th grade. If you are frightened, you should talk to your mom or another female that you trust (big sis, aunt, grandma, teacher). They will be able to tell you what to expect and teach you how to use the different products out there. You may have a little cramping, but you should be just fine. This truly is a time to celebrate becoming a woman. Don't let fear take that away from you. Good luck to you sweetie.

Technically, I was 10, though I started on my 11th birthday. Don't be scared, it's completely natural. You will have cramps and mood swings, but it's all over in a week (sometimes less than a week, even) and there are medicines you can take to ease the cramps. Every female has a period.

If you want to learn more about it, you should talk to your mom or your doctor. Sometimes knowing more about your period and your body can ease some of the fears.

I started when i was 11 summer after 5th grade. and I wasnt scared when i started.I started at home. If you know all about having a period and why you get it every month then you would be fine. usually girls that are scared dont know anything about having a period so when they start they freak out cause there bleeding and they dont know why. but you will be fine its what every girl has to go thru. It not something fun to have but its not scary. Good Luck when you start.

I was 12. It is not painful except for a few stomach cramps and some girls do not even have it very bad. If you do take some Advil and you will be fine. Don't worry about it sweetheart, it is nothing to be scared of.

I started mine when I was 12 or 13. It isn't that bad when you first start, although evrey girl is different. Cramps will happen, but if you take Advil or whatever, it'll be fine. Don't worry, honey. ^-^
