The Sony PSP indisputably has the very best graphics. They used to even make movies for it, but nowadays Sony is the only studio that does (it proved to be unprofitable so everyone else pulled out). The PSP is pretty expensive and is getting completely clobbered by the Nintendo DS in the market. The DS has two screens (one of which is a touchscreen), a microphone, and a lot of popular games (it plays all the game boy games, and nintendo has even been making non-games like cookbooks and maps for it too), but it does have a little worse resolution.
All in all, I think I would recommend the DS Lite, which has a VERY bright and colourful display, won't break your pocketbook, and will probably be more entertaining in the long run. It's a few dollars more than the regular DS (like ten or twenty, depending on where you shop) but it is probably worth it.

I'd also recommend the DS Lite.
I have both systems, and the PSP rarely gets used. There just aren't many worthwhile games. Sure, the graphics are pretty, but besides that there's nothing else. Furthermore, to watch movies on the thing requires conversion which takes hours for a full movie.
The DS Lite, on the other hand is beautiful, small, and fun. With games like Mario Kart, Tetris, Elite Beat Agents, Final Fantasy III, New Super Mario Brothers, Star Fox, and the legendary Pokemon Series, there's always something to play.

BEST ONE IS PSP (PLAYSTATION PORTABLE)
very good, you can watch movies on it, play great graphic games, browse the internet, and use it as an MP3 player - wireless built in. The screen is pretty big and clear too, and im sure you can buy a mobile car adapter for it!
Next best is NINTENDO DS LITE, has Dual screen and you can touch the screen to make things move and stuff... screen is pretty large considering there are two... not as many features as PSP but a little bit cheaper. Different Style games
I would go with one of those two... Nintendo ds if you like interactive kiddys games, PSP if you like the extra features and better graphic games

This depends on your knowledge of emulation and how to copy ROM images. I would say Nintendo DS, its resonably priced around $150. Sony PSP is a joke unless you hack it. The games are below average at best, and everything requires a disc which get scratched easily over time. DS uses cartridges. Because its Nintendo you can trust that the quality of the games in terms of story, sound, and gameplay are top notch. Plus you have alot of classics such as Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. It is even compatible to run old GBA games if you still have any. Plus if you get into emulation you can buy a 2G Mini SD and a device called a SuperCard and start getting your own games( This is where the major savings comes in...)

Okay right now the most popular hand held game systems are the PSP and the Nintendo ds Lite. Both of the systems play games but they do have some big diffrences. It really depends on if you want something that will play music, internet watch videos etc. Or if you want to play games pretty much most of the time.
PSP-Black handheld system almost the same size as the Ds Lite in length and width pretty much. It is pretty much meant for a media device.
Good-
- Plays full length movies
-Plays music
-Plays games
-Sleek design
-Internet access
Bad-
- it doesnt have as many games to choose from as the Ds Lite
-Games and Movies are very expensive
-Screen isnt protected like Ds Lite
-No touch screen like Ds Lite
-Back lit screen is way dimmer than Ds Lite
Overall the PSP is mainly for media use such as music, movies and internet and not mainly made for games.
Nintendo Ds Lite- Is a gaming device that is the same size as PSP pretty much. It has a clamshell design. It has one touch screen on the bottom and one regular screen on the top. The screens are the same size.
Good-
-very bright backlit screen with 4 choices of brightness
-tons of great games to choose from
-backwards compatibilty( plays gameboy advance games as well as it's own games)
-WiFi internet connection ( allows you to play games against people around the world through internet.)
-Internet access ( you have to buy the Opera Browser costs as much as a regular game and can be found in stores soon.)
-Touch screen which makes gaming more interactive and fun
-Wireless messaging
-Can play music but you do have to buy the mp3 player for it.
- on most ds games you can play against some one else even if they do not have that game in their system because it can be downloaded wirelessly from your system.
Bad-
-shows smudges easily
-screens are about half the size of PSP
- not as great graphics as PSP
- limited use ( only plays games pretty much and that is it, no movies etc.)
Overall the nintendo ds lite is a great device but mainly if you just want to play games and not watch movies and play music pretty much. One thing also is that the ds lite's screens are protected all the time because you close it like a folder so the screens are protected when you aren't playing with it unlike the PSP.
Basically it all comes down to what exactly you want to do with the device. do you want to watch movies? Play Music and surf the web? Then you should get the PSP. But if you want to just chill and play games then you should get the Nintendo Ds Lite. But also keep in mind the ds lite is capable of internet access and music playing you just need to buy a few extra inexpensive items. I hope this helped you out on your desicion. Good Luck!! bye!

game gears are retro and cool. and quite rare now. sonic is ace.
*ahem* anyway, buy a ds, it's back-lit and you can buy in-car chargers all over the place. and it has two screens. and a touch-screen. and it's easily the most popular right now. and you can play old gameboy advance games on it.
The DS tends to have alot better imagination behind it, whereas the psp has features you probably already have on your phone or your iPod video.
