Well, you have 2 choices. You can give up on Utah and move to a more friendly gay city and state OR you can get involved with a Utah gay rights group and work to change things for you and the other gay people living in Utah.

If I was driving from New York to Las Vegas, I would add hundreds of miles to the trip going through Texas and Arizona so I could avoid setting foot in the state of Utah!

That would depend on where you were working. Some of the larger companies have guidelines dealing with discrimination and sexual orientation. You might inquire with your local ACLU for information about your options. As it stands, depending on how long you've been there you might at least be eligible for Unemployment.

You are right, there is nothing in Utah. If I were you I would seek a job and a life somewhere else -- where you can be who you are. Utah is ruled by the worst of the religious fanatics. You can do better.

I'm sorry. Sexual orientation isn't one of the 'protected' classes yet. Familial status, gender, age, etc are but not homosexuality. Maybe you could call it sexual harassment though, I don't know. All employers are required to have the equal employment bulletins posted. Call the number on there to find out your rights. Good luck!

If you were doing a good job he probably doesn't care . I have employees , and I dont like gays . I would not fire a good worker because hes gay . If hes a flamer and CAUSING problems hes gay butt would be gone . If he is not flamboyant and somebody else caused a problem their stupid butt would be out the door . We are here to work , not socialize !!

Be a good worker. A homophobe still isnt likely to fire a good worker.
If you get harassed, file a harassment claim. If you get fired, sue. Have fun with it.

If you get fired or otherwise discriminated against you really have no legal grounds then.....and that sucks so badly.
I hope it works out well for you and I hope it makes you mad enough to fight for change....within your company or in your community.

Did you get fired or harassed? Try contacting your local gay rights organization, or the ACLU.
