I think they are usually intellectually more efficient and wise, and they also work harder. They are more efficient all the way around, even in martial arts energy is used in a more efficient way.

Asia has a long tradition of having wise people but I think wisdom has generally deteriorated over the centuries everywhere. Much wisdom has been lost in centuries past with the burning of books in China for instance; and this has been a general problem (loss of library of Alexandria of Egypt as an outside example), and empires being depleted as new empire arose. In the days of Solomon (971 BC - 931 BC according to most scholars, about 964 BC - 924 BC according to my work) there is mention of several wise people, mostly from the East, there is suggestion that they were particularly wise.

In fact in China 1st year students begin by studying the Sarm Chee Kun which is translated "three line poem" and it is a book of philosophy. So in America our students begin by studying "Jack ran up the hill. Jane ran down the hill." In China they begin by studying philosophy. That should tell us something.

Usually, the people who say and believe in these stereotypes have only met a handful of Asians in their whole lives. So they make wide generalizations based on their own experience. You even see this on here ALL the time. People will post answers like, "Well, all the Asians in my school are short and smart." What I want to know is how many Asians are there in that school. Most likely, it's only 5. Great example: Lo's answer above mine. Just because all the Asians she's come across while she lived in Hawaii were short doesn't make it true, but she believes in it. My questions to her are how long has been living there? How does she know who's full Asian and who's mixed?

I would say, they are naturally smarter. Look at the historical time and knowledge behind them compare to American history of only 4 to 500 years. They also work harder to prove their wothiness in the society. Plus the teaching of Buddha - love, peace and brotherhood.

I'm fillipina but was adopted as a baby and my best friend is korean but was adopted too. She did really good in high school because her parents made her work hard and she is really competitive. I do ok in school but don't work hard because my parents were happy if I just got b's or c's in high school. What do people mean when you say "asian", it's a big continent with lots of diversity, plus if they are so smart why is most of people who are asian living in poverty: china, mongolia, india are all really poor countries compared to the US and most of europe. So I say, you can't generalize and say one race of people is smarter than others.

Yes it is a cultural norm for them to be at the task and discharge responsibility. Honor is still a valid concept in many Asian cultures

I really feel that smartness does not come naturally. Most things dont, nobody is born with such abilities. Asians just culturally put a lot of importance on education.

I don't think all Asians are naturally more smarter but i do agree most of them i met are hard workers. Their culture encourages them to be more economically progressive and they work hard to achieve it.

Asian cultures are traditionally more structured and disciplined. They hold a sense of honor, (traditionally), more sacred than us westerners. This creates a sense of pride and discipline that manifests itself into greater achievement. Simple cause and effect.

well, i think that maybe there s something related to the genes that make them smart...but its also true that they have a very strict education. so i guess its a lil bit of both natura and nurtura, like always.
