I believe you have the 3.1 v6 and it is known for blowing intake gaskets, if that's what it is it will be cheaper than fixing a head gasket by $300 to $400.

Maybe 600 for a good head gasket job. That's too old a car to start pouring money into.

that is a distinct unfavourable on paying for the motorized vehicle. "Head gaskets went undesirable, and the motor overheated." i'd ask the seller, why did he keep utilising to the point the position different parts stuck on hearth? Odds are this isn't the purely element he neglected. effective you may bypass ahead and spend $six hundred now, yet anticipate about $5,000 nicely worth of upkeep. At that element, you may want to've been me instead paying for a topic loose 2001 civic for round that cost. i understand $5000+ appears like a range of of money, yet heavily imagine about it. in case you spend any a lot less, you've very nearly a 80-ninety% danger of shopping for a lemon that needs thousands of greenbacks extra of upkeep. Why no longer spend the further funds and under no circumstances ought to rigidity about mechanic parts and puzzling paintings cost (or perhaps worse: dropping efficient efficient time suing seller and spending a million-2 years in civil courtroom).

IT will cost you about $350 bucks to have it fix. It will cost you more to buy a used motor. if you lived in Fort Smith AR. or close to it then I would fix it for you.
