Emily Dickinson was one poet that did only wear white clothing the latter part of her life. People have analyzed it with a ghostly imagery or bride of Christ. She also had a kidney disease that was the probable cause of her death. Another more practical theory for the reason she wore white is laundry. Laundry was more difficult in the 19th century than it is today. Clothes were boiled in order to clean them. White is easier to boil clean since no dye will leach out. Dyed clothing in the 19th century also was not as stable as dyed clothing today. Her illness may have made it necessary to wash her clothing more often and white clothing would be less complicated. And when you are writing kick *** poetry, why complicate your life with such trifles?

Emily Dickinson is famous for wearing white during the later, secluded years of her life.
"the ones who overcame most times...
Wear nothing commoner than snow..."

Definitely Emily D.
"Hope is that thing with feathers,
that perches in our souls
and sings the tune without the words
and never stops at all."

I want to say that was Emily Dickenson. In addition to her poems, her idiosyncracies stood out.
Not sure. This is totally a guess.
