As most everybody has pointed out, the answer is 1024.
The reason that it's not 1000 (as you may expect) is because unlike people (who use a base 10 for numbers), computers use a base 2 (which is why it's called binary).
And 2 to the power of 10 = 1024.
A kilobyte (KB) = 1024 bytes (2 to the power of 10)
A megabyte (MB) = 1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 bytes (2 to the power of 20)
A gigabyte (GB) = 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824 bytes (2 to the power of 30)

so far, every1 has been right. how?
well, computer theory is in base 2, so that answer is 1024. but math is base ten, so that answer is 1,000. how, then, do computers work?
companies selling drives/flash memory (ie hitachi, seagate, crucial, lexar, sandisk, etc) will tell u capacity of drives in base ten, or 1gb=1000mb. software/OS/ram companies (ie microsoft, apple, real, ea, crucial, etc) tell u memory/storage space necesary in base 2, or 1gb=1024mb. (due to this crazy usage, some recommend that 2^30 bytes should be called a gibibyte instead of gigabyte, but it hasn't caught on.)
so, really, the correct answer depends on ur usage.
O!!! and, do NOT confuse Gb w/ GB - they are not the same. GB is gigabyte, Gb is gigabit. because 1 byte = 8 bits, 1 GB=8Gb

There is 128 megabytes in 1Gigbit, There is 8 bits in each byte .
128 X 8 =1024
I can't realy answer your question as your abreviations do no compute.
GB,gig or G=Gigabyte
Gb=Gigabit
MB, meg or M=Megabyte
Mb =Megabyte
What do da mbs and gb mean, Pleaz restate your question and I will try to give yo the right ansker.

1Kb = 1.024 b
1Mb = 1.048.576 b
1Gb = 1.073.741.824 b.
How to calculate them ?
2 power 10 's 1Kb.
2 power 20 's 1Mb
2 power 30's 1Gb
Why 2 ? Becuase Computer's using binary, which only allow 1 or 0. This what makes 2.
