Only those who have either experienced depression or, at the very least, have lived with it (close friend or relative) could understand. I hope, for your sake and the sake of your loved ones, that you never understand.

I respect your opinion however I must say that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I'm 35 years of age, and I urge you not to make a generalization like this; not everyone shares those objectives. I for one gained 30 pounds because a doctor whom I trusted gave me a medication that made me worse and it was one of the worst of my life, I tried to kill myself. I think anyone who has made an attempt will tell you that when you are in that mental position, with no hope it's hard and terrifying. To say that death doesn't come back to you is false- yes we all die but it is a physical one. --- Our spirits live forever.

I don't know that weakness is the best determinant of successful suicide. Rather it depends more on the individual circumstances of the person in question, if this person is being raped and beaten constantly and can't take it, can you say they're weaker than someone who is having a hard time between finals and a boyfriend, but they manage to " pull through" ? This has to be assessed on a case by case basis. But obviously whenever possible to continue living, you must be strong in order to survive and take proper care of yourself.

I agree with glitter. I just came home from the hospital after threatening and wanting to so suicide. It has NOTHING to do being weak. It has to do with hating your life, nobody around you understanding depression (like people who write what you did) and most people not giving a crap about what a feel. For people with depression , death is better than life. I remember saying many times that people who make comments and people who don't understand, want to judge or want to understand need to spend 1 week in DEEP depression to really understand how it feels..not after a loss or during seasons but when nothing bad happens and all is going well...Try it sometime..

I disagree.
maybe the people who live aren't strong but stupid. they keep coming back for more and have unproven optimism-
I'm not actually that cynical but I think suicide is a choice. if someone doesn't feel the drive to live, the hope for the future, and would rather die that is there choice- provided they are not mentally ill. life is a right- but its not mandatory. people can waive their rights.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
I doubt that any samurai who committed seppuku did so out of weakness.
I doubt that the soldiers who threw their bodies on top of hand grenades in order to save their buddies were cowards.
I don't think that terminally ill people who have chosen physician-assisted suicide are weak.

I agree...also if you kill yourself because your life is terrible that means you will have died at the worst point in your life...if you don't commit suicide your life will have to get better(because we already determined you wanted to commit suicide because your life was terrible) so if you wait until it gets better you can die happy...hopefully while having great sex...lol

It's not about weakness or strength, it's about what was meant to happen for you, and how you took it.
