LOL! Slow down. =) I've been wearing them since I was 13. I'm 36. They won't fall out, ever! They won't melt in your eyes, ever! You should remove them before going into a tanning bed, but regular laying out is no problem at all. They won't cut your eyes either, BUT you have to follow your schedule precisely to work into them. Your Dr. will tell you how to do this. The reason is that if you wear them too long before your eyes have gotten used to them, it can cause a corneal abrasion...a scratch on the eye. If that happens, it doesn't cause any long-term damage, and it heals in a few days, but it is incredibly painful. The good news is that if you follow your schedule this won't happen. It is more likely to happen in hard lenses than soft. Most people can wear soft lenses. As for things flying into your eyes: It happens, whether you wear lenses or not. It's not any more common for lens wearers than for non-lens wearers. You can usually just work it out, but on ocassion you might have to remove your lens, rinse it off with saline, and put it back in. No biggie.
You're not supposed to swim in them, but I always have and have never lost one. It isn't advisable though.
The only real risk with contacts is if you just don't clean them, or if you wear a pair that isn't prescribed for you. In either of those instances, you can end up getting an infection, and that can be serious. In the eye, you can get such a serious infection that your sight is risked before you even feel it. Now that I've scared you with the truth, let me say that I am not aware of a single case of this happening. So rare that it's hardly worth discussing, but it wouldn't be honest to not mention it. Just clean them as your Dr. prescribes, and they will become as much a part of your life as your earrings or mascara. There's nothing to be afraid of, especially if you get the more comfortable soft lenses.

I have hard contacts. And if the wind catches my eye they make my eye water and I have to take them out. There have been a couple of times that I have had one get stuck on the upper white part of my eye in the corner oh did it hurt. To answer your question their not going to melt in your eye but if you are tanning you might not want to wear them. And they wont fall out of your eyes they are like a suction cup. If your rough housing you might not want to wear them especially if you have soft contacts because they can tear easily. The best thing for you to do because everyone reacts differently is to talk to your eye doctor and they can tell you want kind you need and answer all your questions. But if you wear glasses now contacts make you look so much better and people dont know you are wearing them.

I have worn contacts for 17 years and they have gotten better over time. Yes, sometimes dirt or debris get in your eyes but it isn't a big deal. They do dry out sometimes and sometimes they fall out. They are pretty inexpensive though and the ones I use are the daily use ones. They don't melt in your eyes in the sun or cooking. I don't go to tanning salons, so I don't know what you do when you go there. You can get the ones that let your eyes get lots of oxygen while wearing them and I think they are the best.

They wont melt. They just tend to dry out a little bit, nothing some drops can't fix.
They won't cut your eyes the only thing that would do that is if you stuck your finger in ur eye putting the contact in but the eyedoctor will show you how to do that, its no big deal once you get used to it.
They wont fall out, mine have fallen out once and i've had then for a few years.
Dust does get in them on rare occasions you blink and its okay.
Way better than glasses, you should get them, less of a pain you dont have to worry about them falling off like glasses.

The soft ones are OH SO NICE! I'm wearing them right now!
1. They NEVER melt (unless if you put it in a oven at 300 degrees fahrenheit)
2. The soft ones CAN'T POSSIBLY CUT YOUR EYES!
3. They rarely randomly fall out (except when your swimming)
4. If anything, the contacts will shield your eyeballs...I guess....
HAVE A NICE DAY! AND DON'T BE AFRAID! :)

I've worn contact lenses for almost 30 years, have never had any problems other than an occasional eye infection when my allergies flare up. I've never had one fall out while driving or rough housing. I don't wear them while swimming. Only the old fashioned, hard lenses are actually glass, and my mother wore those for years, and she never got her eyes cut by them. I don't even think you can get those anymore. See your eye doc for answers to your questions.

i've worn contacts for a LOOONNNG time, and let me tell you, the first time i put them in (actually the nurse did it), i thought my vision was cured...obviously it's not cured, but you see 100% better.
about your concerns about them melting in your eyes, it's not possible. They won't 'stick' to your eye since your eye is mostly lubricated. If you sleep in them, they'll get really dry so don't sleep in them. If they get dry, then use some eyedrops to lubricate them. They won't fall out of your eyes. but don't go swimming with them because you might lose them that way. email me ifyou have any other concerns.
I would add that you get disposable ones. Make sure you try several differnt kinds because some might feel more comfortable than others.

While a few people do have problems with contact lenses, most of the time they work quite well and, as far as I know, are not uncomfortable. I know some people who have worn contact lenses for a while now and haven't had any serious problems with them.

They are really, really safe. The contact rolls to the back of your eye the first couple of times, but you'll get it

hee. hee. ur funny. contacts don't work that way. they are 100x's more likely to stay in your eyes than glasses are to stay on your face.i've been wearing them for over 15yrs. and the only trouble i had with them was the first week, i had to get used putting them in. other than that. it's all worth it.
