a lot of people say this... and most answers are becuz they dont ply for money... when in actuality, the better they play, the better there chances of getting drafted into the NFL, which means they are playing for money... and besides, there's too many teams in college, its hard to keep up with 12 different teams in one state, so why is it more exciting???

I often wonder the same thing...I just cant get into college football like I get into the NFL. I just dont like watching big plays every other down, and thats what happens in college. Scores of 60 to 50 are ridiculous and not entertaining to me. I want to see the best of the best...I want to see people playing for paychecks...I want to see people earning money.

It is not near as exciting as NFL...thats the real deal!

The nfl is more better i think. I mean think about it, the field is so balance you never know who is gonna win or lose. Where as college football teams are winning 20, 30, sometimes 40 points. Now thats just boring. I have to admit some college games are good but if there were a really good college game on at the same time of a really good NFL game, i have to watch the sport at the highest level. I also think that they money factor goes for both so you can throw that out the window. One thing that really misses college up is the computer ratings. As a football fan I wanna see a come from behind win but because if a team wants to be rated high in the BCS computer rankings they literally have to play with no mercy. I mean throwing in the fourth quarter when your up by 4 or more TDs is prett sad.

You bet, but I'm a sports fanatic so I'm excited when any sport kicks off, but this year college football is really exciting with some of the early season match-ups (it's about time too), I mean you got 2 top 25 games in week 1 in 20. Illinois vs 6 Missouri, and 24 Alabama vs 9 Clemson, not to mention Fla Atlantic vs 11 Texas (could be a possible early season upset) and Appalach St vs 7 LSU (wouldn't it be great is Appalach St. could pull the upset two years in a row). Then in week 2 you got 2 Ohio State vs 3 USC (good luck to your Buckeyes by the way I'll be going for them) and in week 4 you got ASU vs Georgia, and those are just some of the games to look forward too. By the way I'm an Arizona Wildcat fan and I'm pulling for them to just break the bowl slump they're in this year.

I agree, a lot of people do attribute it to the money factor, but I don't believe that's the answer.

When a high school player graduates and moves on to college ball, they pick the school that they are going to play for; there is a tremendous amount of pride in this decision. When a kid who grew up loving the Michigan Wolverines, wathcing them every Saturday, runs out of that tunnell with the Winged Helmet on, he is ready to die for the glory of his school. In the NFL, you're drafted by an organization and that's your team, even if you've always hated them.

The NFL lacks the passion and pride on the behalf of the players that makes the college game so pure. NFL players want the Super Bowl, and that's not to say that the college kids don't want the BCS Championship, because they do; but college players also play for pride, for history, for tradition. It truly means something to those kids that they are able to put on the uniform that their childhood heroes wore. They have always lived and died, not only with football, but with that very school; that's a luxury that only fans have in the NFL.

College football has an edge and viciousness that springs from the fact that fans know that the players care every bit as much about winning that game as they do. You see it in NFL players that went to rival schools (Mich vs OSU, USC vs ND, Texas vs OU) during game weeks; they are constantly hounding and harassing each other about a college game, even though they have their own schedule to worry about.

When you take that edge, throw in 20,000 rowdy students in the prime of their life, millions of alumni around the world, and a group of guys that not only want to play football, but want to be on that very team, wearing that very uniform, something very special happens.

Regardless of the other possible answers... the money factor, the excitement of the regular season, the variety of different schemes and styles, all of which are integral to the excitement of college sports, the pride that the players have, the fact that they represent something that they believe in, shows up on that field during those games. That is what makes more exciting.

It's because everyone benefits from it but the players. The coaches are paid well, the colleges are paid well, but if a coach buys a player a lunch, that's an infraction. All they worry about is money. They don't care if they truly decide a champion or not. As long as they get the money, they're fine.

The NFL is way better than college.

the reason that college football is better than the NFL is because the players have more to be playing for. They have to play the best games of their life because if they don't they don't get into NFL. College football is exilerating and exciting. It's just ten times better than the NFL.

They're not just playing football, but they're trying to graduate too, and hopefully get to the NFL. And the not getting paid thing. NFL players, that's ALL they do is get paid and play football. (Except for T.O., God only knows what he actually does for the team!)

Because they are more passionate, where pro is just in it for the paycheck. Also, they are still young and can play harder w/o worrying about getting hurt as much. Plus it is cool to be able to say "the school I went to/team I played for won", you can't say that w/Pro unless you actually played pro.
