Just a quick note...I am not implying this question in any sexual manner of any sort; just out of my own curiosity.

Why are vaginas or a woman's pubic region considered to be more private than her breasts?

In movies, my theory is also prevalent. A quick shot of a woman's breasts would give a movie a PG-13 rating, but the same quick shot of her pubic region would give it an R-rating.

Genitalia on both sexes is considered "ruder" because they are used for sex.

NOTE: I discovered this forum tends to agree with the FCC about what words are clean and what words are dirty. When I mention th T bomb, I'm referring to the plural of the 3 letter word that strts with a T and ends with a T meaning a female breast. When I mention the P bomb, i'm referencing the synonym for cat that also is a noun for a vagina.

When I was a youth - we're talking 40 years ago - their was a comic routine similar to Jeff Foxworthy's "You know you're a redneck if". This was "Cleans" and "Dirties".

An example, "Idiot is a clean, boob is a dirty." While a boob is just another term for an idiot, it's double meaning makes it a dirty. Frequently, it was the double intendre that set up the dirties.

In today's society, you are correct. Now breast is a clean and vagina is a dirty (I know, completly different body parts, but I'm taking this somewhere).

George Carlin had a comedy routine where he listed the seven words you can't say on television, which included the word "T bomb". In his routine he conceded that some words he could almost understand (the F bomb and the S bomb), but "T bomb" was such a friendly sounding word.

Patience, I'm getting there.

So, breast is a clean and T bomb is (still) a dirty.

I'm going on thin ice with this, but i'm not trying to be vile or improper in any way. Just think about the words.

A natural assumption would be "vagina is a clean and "P bomb" is a dirty". But, really, this is just like the word "T bomb". Where "vagina" sounds somewhat harsh and stiff, "P bomb" sounds so nice and friendly - just as a pure word and nothing to do with what it is.

So, in conclusion, society makes some really strange rules about what is acceptable and what is not. And it changes year by year. Nudists in the 60's and 70's were regarded as perverts, child molestors, sex fiends, etc. Now, it is much more accepted as a lifestyle choice. In a few years, it may be quite common to see people swimming nude at the local public pool.

The thing asbout boobs is they are atleats attractive to look at. I think mine are really great (but then so do most guys i meet ;-) ).

Some how I dont have the same feeling about my privates. Even if its clean shaven and what ever, it still is slightly repulsive.

Although I would like my boobs to stay hidden as it leaves a little something for the bedrrom. Same with movies. If they make them so public, what will we have left to tempt you guys?

good question...as time goes by we uncover more body parts and it becomes more acceptable..topless bathing is acceptable at most beaches in australia now.50 years ago this was illegal...im guessiing about the exact timeline.but you get the idea.same as in movies.we never used to see uncovered women in earlier movies.maybe in the not too distant future we may see women totally nude and not bat an eyelid...sign of the times i suppose

They also show a mans chest, however they do not show their penis. And if they do it would get more than an R rating. God bless****

well, my guess would be that boobs aren't the "main attraction" during sex so therefore they are alright to be shown. it has a lot to do with the standards of the society we are in
