Most blacks don't fall for the GOP lies and vote for them, even if they have a black running on the GOP ticket.

Youi've got to run before you can be elected.

Sorry to see the confused opinion by "Takfam". I'm getting to be an "old white man", I vote Republican, and some people even think I'm rich. As a young man, and ever since, I have made my position clear on all minorities. I judge people one at a time, on their own individual merits, and regardless of ethnicity.

As a young man working for a major corporation, I stood up for black people when the union leaders wanted nothing to do with them and the union members abused the first ones that were assigned to anything more than pushing a broom.

Maybe a better example of a "rich old white man" is Charlton Heston. He put his future in Hollywood on the line to march with Martin Luther King, because Hesston believed it was the right thing to do.

this is ridiculous coming from a black person. did you see the 2006 election where a number of great black candidates were destroyed? not even black people will vote for black republicans, so what do you except? michael steele and lynn swann were both high-profile, excellent men, running for senate and governor, yet black people pretty much refused to vote for them and in many cases called them racist names, like uncle toms. black people dont want to see black republicans in gov't. they just want to see democrats there, doesn't really matter if they are black or white. if you want to see how much the democrats are doing for their black voters, take a walk through black democrat cities, like newark, detroit, DC, or philadelphia. it's digusting.

You would first have to have blacks run as a Republican. Oklahoma used to have a Black Republican Congressman.

J C Watts 4 term congressman from Oklahoma! Didn't run for a 5th time or would have won again!

Well, I know some pretty racist republicans. But before anyone reports me, I know some pretty racist democrats too. And not all republicans, and probably not even most, are racist. There are plenty racists to go around. But it's probably racism that makes Bush not appoint black people or for black people to be voted for.

Cookie dogs, if Democrats of the time around civil war were alive today, their ideals would classify them as republicans. Sorry.

The vast majority of blacks are liberal. But Bush does have a lot of Blacks working for him. What does it matter what race u r? Black, white, hispanic-it doesn't matter-it is the quality of the candidate, not the color-dont lose sight of that

Most Republicans are rich citizens. Most rich citizens in the U.S. are old white men. Old white men still hold prejudice opinions from back in the days of MLK and the civil rights movement. Thus, it is very difficult to get elected as a black man under a Republican banner since very few Republicans would put a black man in power.

Not that any of them would ever admit to being a racist in public mind you. If they did, then civil rights groups would sue and take a big chunk of their precious money.

They need to. It just hasn't happened as fast as it should. It is time for this. But if Obama was a republican would you still support him because of the issues or the color? I support him because of the issues despite my being conservative.

I'm not certain, but I believe it costs more money to run Republican.
