who is the best superman or hulk?

First off, what do you mean by better? If you mean who would win in a fight here on earth, I believe that the Hulk would win. Superman will start off as stronger, but if the Hulk starts getting beat up, he will get angry, and he will get stronger. There is literally no limit to the Hulk's strength. We have seen before that brute force can hurt and even kill Superman (Doomsday), while the Hulk's regenerative capacities are amazing. My money is on the Hulk.

Supes is a better AND more powerful character.

According to the Marvel Handbook the Hulk can't even lift past the 100 ton mark without getting angry.

As soon as Supes wakes up he already can lift WAY past the 200,000,000 ton mark without breaking a sweat. And this is AFTER he was powered down by John Byrne in the 80's.

And for those idiots out there who keep saying that the Hulk would eventually catch up to Supes because he can get stronger... SO WHAT?

The Hulk gets angry. So now he goes past the 100 ton mark. So what? Supes is ALREADY THERE.
They keep fighting. Hulk reaches the 200 ton mark. So what? Supes is STILL beyond that.
They keep fighting and the Hulk reaches the 400 ton mark, and so on and so forth.

By the time the Hulk breaks into the 1,000 ton range, Supes will just say "Look green dude, I have a date with Lois in a few minutes. So how about we just say you win, and call it even.

Supes flies away and has his fling with Lois. The Hulk goes shopping for some more clothes. ALONE.

The Hulk loses AGAIN.

Superman. There really is no question. The hulk gets big and green and has super strength. But Superman doesn't need to get big and green he already has super strength, on top of xray vision, super hearing, the power of flight... Superman is deffinately better.

Superman is the guy everybody wants to be the all -american hero, who can fly and do no wrong.

The Hulk is the guy that people want to secretly be like. When people mess with you or if they beat you up, you turn into the Hulk and destroy them.

I might go with Superman so I could fly. I would save a lot on gas

It really depends on who you like.

I like them both. They each bring something different to the table.

Outside of superpowers...

Superman brings honesty, defense of those less powerful than himself, selflessness. He will die defending the planet and it's people. No one is beyond his protection and he judges not.

Hulk is an awful lot like Spiderman. He is misunderstood. In contrast to other superbeings, he prefers to be alone but is often under attack which is the tragedy that surrounds him. Frienships to him are important - for he has few - and holds them dearly. He might not sacrifice himself to a world that constantly betrays and attacks him but will do so for a friend.
