I developed this lump nearly overnight, after a workout that I was not used to. This workout also involved bracing myself against a pad in that area (as in tricep extension machine).. There was subsequent swelling and severe pain, which responded to antibiotics. It also hurt a lot when I used my pectoral muscles and arm on that side. Now the swelling has gone down and the pain is only there when it is pressed . I have been seeing a breast surgeion because I had a biopsy on the same breast a couple of weeks before (benign). When he heard that I had worked out the night before, he offered costal chondritis or Tietze syndrome as a possibilily. All of my symptoms sound just like that diagnosis expect for the little almond size lump that still remains. Can costal chondritis or Tietze syndrome cause a lump?
