I won't go see a Yankees home game ever again after they leave Yankees Stadium. It's like... a part of history... lol. I'm not happy about them getting another stadium (and I'm a fan).

Yankee stadium is as much a part of the Yankees as the players are. Anyone who is a baseball fan knows about the history of their favorite team, and most likely has been to the stadium. Right now, although Yankee stadium is old, it has been kept up well and you can feel the air of history in it. I think building a new stadium is unnecessary. Not only that, but look at the location! The Bronx is so crowded now, its practically impossible to get to the stadium. When they build around the corner, it will just make traffic patterns into a new problem!

It will be a huge loss for the community, as it will elminate some park land, although the Yankees will create more of it on the site of the current Yankee Stadium. But for the fans, it will be great! It will seat a few thousand less, but it will be very modern with better sight lines. Also, a lot of visiting players complain about the small locker rooms, after all, the Stadium is over 80 years old. Also, it will be called Yankee Stadium, and the old facade that was taken off the current Yankee Stadium will be put on the new one.
For all of you opposing fans who hate the Yankees, too bad. Yankee Stadium is old and out of date. The Yankees and their fans deserve a modern stadium. If Cleveland, Baltimore, Seattle, San Francisco, Texas, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Houston, Chicago, and San Diego can all have new stadiums, why can't the Yankees? It's not all about money.

Its time. The stadium needs to be modern and the Old Yankee Stadium is not. I'm sure the impact to the surrounding area will be huge during construction but after its done the area will be rejuvenated with new access roads, parking, Parks for children and sidewalks, etc. If you've never been there it's an experience to say the least. I'll miss the old stadium but won't miss the experience.

I don´t like the stadium right now. Is old, not pretty and there are a lot of better baseball stadiums. So, i´m happy about the new one and planning a new vacation to NY in 09. And i don´t think is going to affect the comunity, because is going to generate new jobs and made the Bronx look better, because the area of the current Yankee Stadium sucks.

I am sad to see it go. It is a part of NY and baseball history. I still can't believe that Babe Ruth played in this same stadium.
The new stadium will be a better more technological stadium, but I don't think it can match the character of the current stadium.
