Some people see poverty as the fault or weakness of the individual; others see it as a failure of society to provide for basic needs.

Some people experience great pleasure during Christmas; others suffer from depression.

Some people watch a drunk stagger along the street and see it as comedic; others see it as being sad.

Some people see test-taking as a challenge; others suffer from "test anxiety."

I could go on, but the bottom line to all examples is that perception is both selective and subjective.

I once asked a martial arts expert if he would use his martial arts on someone he caught raping a 2yr old child. He said " NO! "
He was an only child with no younger relatives.
I then asked him if he would use his arts if someone was raping his mother and as quick as a flash his whole face changed to horror, he said " I'd F*#k%*g kill him and if he touched my grandmother too !!!"
So I said to him " Your mum and grandma were 2yrs old once too"
Life experiences give us all a different way of seeing.
