Anakin would not have fallen to the Dark side so quickley if Qui-Gon Jinn had lived to take him as Padawan Leaner.

Obi-Wan Kenobi lacked the teaching experience of the other Jedi Masters, but still wanted to honor Qui-Gon's last request to have the boy trained as a Jedi. As a newly knighted Jedi, Obi-Wan knew he was not truly ready to take on a Padawan. Were it not for the unusual circumstances and the dying wish of his former master, he would have attempted to continue studying the Force more thoroughly on his own before taking on a Padawan.

The Jedi Council did not want Anakin to be trained and they knew that Obi-Wan Kenobi would train him against their judgement in order to fulfill Qui-Gon's dying wish.

"Qui-Gon's defiance, I sense in you" were Yoda's words to Obi-Wan Kenobi. Yoda expressed that the Jedi Council did not want the boy trained, but reluctantly would allow Obi-Wan to take Anakin as his Padawan Learner. It was better to oversee the training in the Jedi Temple, where every Jedi Master could keep an eye on Anakin's progress, than to risk having Obi-Wan leave the Jedi Order and train Anakin somewhere far from where the Jedi could monitor the situation.

It is because of Obi-Wan's inexperience that he became emotionally attached to Anakin. Their relationship became less and less like Master & Student and more like friends. Obi-Wan failed to enforce dicipline and order to properly establish the proper Master's leadership and Padawan's obediece. The "buddy" relationship that deloped between them prevented Obi-Wan from maintaining disipline and recieving the proper respect a Padawan should show to a Master. As a result Anakin began to question Obi-Wan's decisions and teachings. This attitude is clearly demonstrated in Episode 2 when Anakin openly argues with Obi-Wan about how they were to conduct their mission to protect Padme after the sabotage on the landing platform. Then again when he levitates the pear during the dinner scene on Naboo, mentioning that Obi-Wan wouldn't approve. Palpatine was able to assert himself as mentor because Anakin no longer respected Obi-Wan as a Jedi Master.

Had Qui-Gon Jinn lived he would have been able to instill in Anakin the proper respect and discipline for the Force and the Jedi Order. With Qui-Qon's strong leadership and guidance Anakin would never have turned to Palpatine as a mentor.

Palpatine's rise to power would have been severely delayed. Having sensed how strong Anakin was as a boy, he would want to turn him, but doing so would have taken several dozen years and more difficult to do.

I would imagine, had Qui-Gon lived. Palpatine would have tried to turn Obi-Wan Kenobi. The young Jedi Knight would no longer have the constant guidance and supervision of the Jedi Masters and could eventually be influenced as he continued on his own to study the Force. Palpatine may have left clues or create situations that would temp Obi-Wan to look into aspects of the Force that could eventually expose him to Dark side teachings.

Once Obi-Wan was turned Palpatine start the Clone War and would use Obi-Wan and Dooku to draw out Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi Master would have done everything he could to return his former Padawan to the Light side of the Force. Palpatine would have ochestrated the battle so that Qui-Gon would kill Dooku, but would himself be killed by Obi-Wan. With that he would eliminate the biggest Sith threat (Dooku) and the one person protecting Anakin.

With the Clone Wars in full swing an Obi-Wan and Anakin under his control, he would have given Order 66 and no Jedi would have survived with Obi-Wan and Anakin hunting them down. The destruction of the Jedi would have been complete, since their would be no Luke & Leia to restore Anakin to the Light side. Under Qui-Gon's leadership, Anakin would have had the dicipline to control his emotions and not become so involved with Padme.

It's hard to say. He was a loyal jedi and did believe in bringing balance to the force (that's why he defied the Jedi council when it came to training Anakin. I don't know how much more he would have defied the council but probably not enough to side with his former master, Count Dooku. The thing that makes me believe he was truly good is that at the end of episode 3, Yoda told Obi Wan that he would continue his training with Qui Gon (his "ghost/spirit"). Long answer short; He would have become a very powerful Jedi with no influence over Anakin. He had to die because he would become even more powerful for the good side...Just like Obi Wan in episode 4.

Interesting question.

I would have liked to see Qui Gon go after Anakin/Vader once he turned Sith, and with Obi Wan have a knock-down, drag-out with young Vader.

That wouldn have been a LOT better fight, and cool to see Vader kill Jin, then have Obi knock him into the lava.

But then we wouldn't have seen how great Darth Maul was, or how badly he was ROBBED in Episode I.

I'm sorry, but Maul was royally punked in the end. He fights 2 Jedis at the same time with hyper speed Jedi reflexes, kills the master, then chucks Obi off the ledge.

Yet Obi can jump up outta the pit, flip over Maul, TK grab Jinn's sword, land cat-like on his feet and slice Maul in two without Maul even blocking or dodging, or anything?!?

WTF?!

George Lucas, YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He would trained Anakin and make him become a jedi knight. And + Anakin wouldn't turn to the dark side and the whole story would change.
I also wished that Qui gon wouldn't die in the Phantom Menace.

He would have become Obi Won which would make no sense so it is best that he died when he did because he wanted to train Anakin himself.

He would have suffered the same fate as Obi-Wan because he would've taken Anakin as his apprentice.
