Look at it this way, if the book is boring is it a good trade for the hours of your life you spend reading it? I'd say what you should do will depend on how you answer this question.

So you want to read the book, but you don't want to? That makes no sense, but I'll give you two possible options: I) Don't read the book, or 2) Go to sparknotes.com and type in the book's name, it will give you the book summary and chapter summaries, and everything else you would want to know.

well i have the same thing i like james patterson but one of his books is boring . two thing force yourself to read it or just pick another book the author worte you dint finsh reading it but you did start reading it and that kind of counts as reading the book

Read it anyway. Books are all written for a reason, and you'll come out of it with a slightly altered view, wiether you realise it or not.
