How new are the Nintendo Ds and are they well worth the money? How are the games?

The DS is good for kids, as someone said, but its small screen as annoying for anyone with less-than-perfect eyesight (at least it is for me!). There IS a brighter version, called the "DS lite", which adults might prefer.
I'm told that the game Brain Age and its sequel (I forget the name) are excellent for both kids and older people (memory boosting power!).
It has a stylus, too, which tends to get lost...maybe they can attach it or something...someday.
For someone who likes action games, I'd get the Nintendo Wii.

the Nintendo DS is now 2 years old... It could be a nice gift but I don't really reccomend it.. go for the wii if you can get the money for it

I am 18 years old and I want that for christmas as gay as that may sound. I want the pink one. They are so cute... well that and they have a lot of games for the older and younger crowd. I mean they have suduko and tetris and original mario and all these other things that I enjoy. So yes I would have to say that is a good choice for any age person who loves video games!

They are wonderful and make a great gift for any age 10+. The games are really nice too!

Good for a kid, bad for grandma...
Wrth the money? I think so. If it is for a kid, there is a great game...I forget the name, but it is a bunch of puzzles and math equations and other things like that that actually exercise your brain and assist in learning. Pretty cool - and educational!!
