I think there's some rule about getting union scale wages, some minimum that's required by the Screen Actor's Guild or something.

They must get something.

I doubt it's a big paycheck, but just exposure on TV could and does lead to bigger things.

Look at Eric Nies who went on to have his own dance videos. And there was one girl who had a career in rap for a while.

I think they just get paid for their job that they do on the show. I think they do it for the experience. They make money afterwards it is my understanding going to places and doing public appearances. They can also get paid to be on the challenges if they win them.
