i think you both need to come out of the closet and accept yourselves for who you are. some straight guys like to use dildos on themselves, or suck them so I do not think it means he is ... but it might ... never can tell

I kinda agree , Freud does not have all the answers ..
.. but ignoring what he might had said, Thumb Sucking is more of a "habit" that a hidden signal. And it's more related with the psycho-motor functions. Some lose this "habit" as they mature, but there are a lot of people (specially male) that keep this "habit", even though it's not as obvious as it might has been when they where infants.
Conclusion, at least from my part .. it definitely doesn't mean he's gay .. it's not even remotely related.
That's my professional opinion, as you see, I once dated a psychologist. :p (jeje)

I don't know what Freud would say but I don't think Freud has all the answers either.
Some people suck their thumbs into adulthood because they never really got over it in their childhoods. I've seen it with my own eyes in very public places to boot.

That is so corny. He hasn't grown out of it. My mom knows a lady who is in her 50's and still sucks her thumb. I sucked mine until I was 13yrs old but I still bite my nails on occasion. Your man is not gay!

No, it has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It is a comfort to him. So is rocking oneself while sleeping. Has he ever talked about his childhood? The causal issue probably happened when he was very young. He may not even remember it.

well it means he's gay if there is other corraboration evidence.
Does he buy candles?
Does he have more than one gay or bi friend?
Does he hide his penis during sexual intercourse?
Does he idolize Janet Jackson or Mariah Carey?
Is he white?
If the answer is yes to three or more of these questions, then yes he is gay!!
