1) Call the ages E, C and D. We're told E = 4C, D = 2C and E + D + C = 140. Substituting the first two equations into the third gives 4C + 2C + C = 140, or 7C = 140. Therefore C = 20. Plugging this back into the first two equations gives E = 80 and D = 40. Eduardo is 80, Don is 40 and Clayton is 20.

2) This uses the Pythagorean Theorem. The height is 18 feet and the width is 7.5, so the diagonal is the square root of (18^2 + 7.5^2). That works out to 19.5 feet.

3) Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b. We're given m = 5. When x = 0, y = -1, so b is -1.

4) -6a * (12a + 4) = -6a * 12a + -6a * 4 = -72a^2 - 24a.

5) (3x + 4y) + (-7y + 16x) = 3x + 4y -7y + 16x = 19x - 3y.

6) -2z - 4 > 20. -2z > 24. -z > 12. z < 12.

7. Dougs account increases rapidly at firs, but then quickly slows down. Zadies accounts remains increasing at a constant rate and will eventually become greater than dougs.

for the first one, write a system of equations:
e=4c
d=2c
e+d+c=140
then plug the first two into the last and solve for c to get d.

2) draw a picture. when the rectangle is divided with a diagonal bar, it should make a right triangle. use pythagorean theroem to find the answer

3)slope intercept form: y=mx+b.. b is y-intercept then use it

4)just multiply its EASY!

5)if you mean add them both together, just combine like terms

6) write equations, the money they start with is y intercept

9)just subtract the x from both sides and divide by the coefficient of the y

10) just finish it.
