Grimm Fairy tales are the best. Actually, back in the 80s, there was a Japanese animation known as Grimm's Fairy Tale Cassics. The episodes were brought over here and aired on Nickelodeon.

Here's a comprehensive list of their fairy tales, including stories that I never knew existed prior to watching the series:

And if you have time, I would watch some episodes on YouTube - it's better than just reading them (type in "grimm's fairy tale classics").

Look up the Grimm Fairy Tales (the real ones, the gory ones...yup, they're kinda dark) and Madame de Beaumont's Beauty and the Beast
