It's usually the thin plastic tubs that come with plants you buy at a nursery. Most are black.

Redbass is confused. Nursery liners are "lining out stock" - very tiny trees and shrubs, some not much bigger than a twig, that you can buy wholesale cheaply, plant, and hope to grow to saleabe size before the deer or mice destroy them.

liners are tip cuttings that have been soaked in a rooting hormone and placed in a soil-less media. Then they are put into a greenhouse or similar plant propagating system with misting and constant water and fertilizer until they take root. Once they begin regrowth, they are usually potted up to a resale size OR repotted to make for Larger growth.
