ive cheered for 8 years and i decided not to cheer in high school because all the girls are all so *****! whats your opinion on cheerleaders and if you are a cheerleader (sorry, i used to be too)

Cheerleaders are no snobbier than anyone else. It is very poorly portrayed by the world. I am a cheerleader and we all get along really well with each other and with everyone else. I have a lot of other friends other than the girls on the squad and most of us do sports other than cheerleading as well. For example, most of us do volleyball. Because cheerleaders are on the volleyball team, does that make volleyball players snobby bitches too? I would hope not. It's just a sport and we don't feel any higher on the "food chain" than anyone else does. We work just as hard as many other sports. How long and how much muscle and training do you think it takes to lift a girl up into the air? Or do a bunch of "back flips"? I am not afraid to break my nails, I peel them off anyway. I sweat too. If you haven't been a part of cheerleading then you have no idea what you are talking about when you say that cheerleaders are mean and self fish. MOST cheerleaders are really nice.
As for you.. I think you need to try it and keep going with it. Just because you THINK the girls are mean, doesn't mean that they are going to be. You can always join another sport as a backup.

It's often hard to see the real person there.
Most of the cheerleaders I knew came off as very unapproachable, or too good for everyone. This is not to say that all cheerleaders are at all like this, but it does seem to breed some degree arrogance.
Plus, like it or not for many cheerleading squads, on some level "sexy" is good marketing. I'm not so sure I would want my daughter to subscribe to that line of thinking... It does endear itself to a certain amount of leering from men.
If you are not going to lose any friends or sleep over it, try something else. Why not?
If you really do enjoy it, and you like the people you do it with, stay in. Be true to yourself. Just try not to to be so fake or think you are better than other girls.

well..its really depends on the girls and it depends on the team...im a Varsity cheerleader for my high school and all of the girls are really nice...sometimes they can be pretty obnoxious..but then again we all have our days. honestly though if youve been a cheerleader for that long i wouldnt quit doing something you enjoy because of the people. if you really have to go out and find a different team to cheer for. or just tough it out and try to make new friends. as with most people once you get to know them its easy to see past all of that.

im a highschool cheerleader and i really didnt want to cheer at my school but my mom forced me to and it was one of the best decisions ever. it is so much fun you get so involved in your chool and no were not snotty ******* we all get along with everyone. were not selfish to whatever jerk said that... HS cheer is the best and i think you should try out if you realyl love cheering. but if you thought all stars was hard your in for a rude awakening with high school. or at least thats how it is at my school...... and before anyone else says cheer is not a sport lets see you live through a practice with gurls fling at your head from above you.

Why do females activities have to revolve around male activities? like cheerleaders, cheering for guys playing football. Is this proof that its really a man's world? I think cheerleading is degrading to women, they should'nt have to play second fiddle to men and cheer men. It shows their simpleness when they do this.

Agh......what fakes!!! This is the subject that brings up the topic- SELFISHNESS!!! I think they are so mean to others just because they don't have cute little bodies like them, or not pretty, no boyfriend, well....you get the picture!!! Personally, I think you have had your experience with cheerleading, let's give it a break, and join Basketball, it will show that you aren't afraid to break a nail, and you don't mind getting all stinky and sweaty.....and ya know what? Boys will still think you're hot, because they know you can get down and dirty!!!

They are great. It gives girls something fun to do. I guess girls can look at it as sport in a way. If they got the body for it, it's great. Plus, if the team they are cheering for sucks, what elce are fans susposted to get excited about ? ;)
