yes you can still open one. Just don't give your real age. The reason they require that is because if you owe them any outstanding funds, you need to be 18 for them to pursue you to collect because a minor under 18 legally isn't allowed to go into a credit contract, which is kind of what eBay does, they allow you to list and then bill you after.

And to the person who said you have to be 18 to have a debit, no you don't. Anyone at any age can open a checking account. They can be a junior member and debit cards come standard now with bank accounts, most with the Visa or Mastercard logo. I have one for my 15 year old daughter :p

If you want to make your auctions look good and save some money go to Auctivia.com and upload your pics, they let you have many many pics, will show other items you have for sale in each listing and give you templates or themes, all for free. You'll save a ton of nickels and dimes compared to eBay's fees to do the same thing.

eBay's fun, you'll love it! They won't verify your age, either unless you want to be i.d. verified for thsoe who are really skeptical on whether or not they want to trust you..

First, you do not need to be 18 to have a debit card as this varies by bank rules. Though you do need to be 18 to sign up for Ebay, this is because of certain laws that the government has passed, and partly because merchants do not want to take a risk with minors.

If you would still like to buy things off of ebay, talk to your Parents, and ask them to set up an account for you. I suggest you also have them help you set up a paypal ( http://www.paypal.com ) account so that your Debit Card information is more secure. If they say no, that is their choice, and you would have to respect that. Just make sure to talk to them before buying anything online, to make sure it is a wise decision, they probably know more about money management than you. Good luck!

Hmm, you can be under 18 to get a debit card, such as Solo.

I'm sure the reason you need to be 18 is to do with you entering into a legally binding contract when you make a bid / sell something on eBay, so you need to be an adult to do that.

Just do it under one of your parent's names. You can still use your debit card. The point of having to be 18 is because once your logged in you can spend as much money as you want. If a minor were to buy car without the consent of an adult, well... obviously that could cause some problems.

You already know that you have to be 18 or older to enter into a legally binding contract. If you lie, and you defraud a buyer, your parents can go to jail on your behalf. They are responsibile for you until that time.

Back in the 80's, BMG processed a LOT of orders from teenagers who never paid for CD's or tapes because they weren't of age to be sent to collections. They learned their lesson and now ask for a social security number to be able to join their club.
