I am thinking of starting a home business where I would wrap presents for people that just don't have the time or just plain don't want to do it themselves.
I'd like to know if anyone has suggestions as to how I can go about charging per package/bag/etc.
Please help!

That price that maximizes revenues. The price per package times the number of packages equals revenues. The more you charge, the fewer customers will buy. The less you charge, the more they will buy. Where the revenues peak is your ideal price. If you charge a million dollars, you will have zero sales and zero revenues. If you charge one cent, you will get a thousand or more sales a week, work your tail off. and make ten dollars. Somewhere in between will be your peak for revenues. You will need to experiment to find it.

I agree about the pricing at department stores. As long as you are using similar quality paper, ribbons and finishes, you can charge a similar rate.

Make sure you clarify what the costs are for products purchased elsewhere, not in their own store. They'll wrap anything, but likely charge more when it's not from their own store.

I recommend stopping by a local upscale department store and check out their pricing...

Be aware that these stores are your competition and they typically don't charge much to customers that buy from them...it's a customer convenience thing more than a for-profit thing.
