For me it is the couple hours with my son before he goes to bed.

When I wake up and see my son has climbed into my bed again. He opens his eyes, sees me, smiles, and then goes right back to sleep. It's a slice of heaven.

I'm a novelist. The best part of my day is some point between three and five in the afternoon when I finish the chapter I'm working on. By then, I'm so sick of the sound of my own voice in my head that it's a relief to crank the stereo and do something physical.

Heading for a walk with my dog down at the beach, or just hitting the beach for a swim.
